It has been reported that a new law regarding foreign investments has entered into force in Croatia.
Any investment in the Republic of Croatia that directly or indirectly results in a 10% or more stake, share, or voting right in a company must be approved by the Ministry of Finance. The new regulation aims to impose a stricter oversight mechanism, particularly for investments from non-EU countries. This revised law also specifies that it may set deadlines for administrative screening and decision-making processes.
Furthermore, the regulation covers investments made by companies within the "critical infrastructure and strategic sectors," as determined by a government body. Any investment not properly completed through the application process will be considered an "unreported foreign investment" and may subsequently be subject to review and corrective measures.
