The official letter from the General Directorate of International Agreements and European Union of the Ministry of Trade to our Union, entitled "EU Aluminum Scrap Measure - Public Consultation Process," is attached. In summary, the letter states that the European Commission, within the framework of the ResourceEU Action Plan published on December 3, 2025, plans to propose measures regarding aluminum scrap by the second quarter of 2026. In this context, it is stated that the European Commission has initiated a public consultation process regarding future measures to secure the supply of aluminum scrap. The letter further states that opinions are being gathered on developing a trade measure to ensure that sufficient aluminum scrap remains within the EU, and that, in parallel with the collection of opinions, the Commission will prepare a Staff Working Document analyzing different scenarios and their impacts on the EU aluminum supply chain. The deadline for submitting opinions has been set by the Ministry as January 31, 2026, and detailed explanations on the subject are attached. The deadline for consolidating the submitted opinions by our Union has been set as January 26, 2026.
