According to the intergovernmental agreement signed between our country and the Russian Federation on May 12, 2010, a nuclear power plant (NPP) consisting of 4 units, each with a capacity of 1200 MW, is planned to be built in the Mersin/Akkuyu site. Currently, the construction of all units is ongoing, and it is planned that the entire Akkuyu NPP will be commissioned by the end of 2028. According to the National Energy Plan published by our Ministry in 2022, it is aimed to reach 7.2 GW of nuclear installed capacity by 2035 and approximately 20 GW by 2053. In order to increase our domestic industry contribution within our country"s nuclear program, a portal called "Nuclear Energy Supplier Information System (NETBIS)" has been established as a joint effort of the General Directorate of Nuclear Energy and International Projects and the Department of Information Processing of our Ministry. This portal is intended to be used as a platform for tender announcements and communication in our future nuclear power plant projects, in addition to continuously collecting up-to-date information on the capacities of Turkish companies. With NETBIS, it is planned to share the continuously updated information on Turkish companies with relevant public institutions in order to increase localization in nuclear power plant projects in our country, as well as in other energy facilities such as thermal power plants, pipelines, and petrochemical plants. Within the scope of the Paris Agreement, to which our country is also a party, the decarbonization of the energy sector by 2053 has become a global goal, and it is foreseen that the share of nuclear power plants in world electricity production will increase. In this context, with the experience gained in nuclear power plants in our country, Turkish companies have the potential to become exporters of equipment, materials, and services for other nuclear power plants in the world, and it is planned to share the information collected with NETBIS with technology owners and EPC companies in order to promote Turkish industry worldwide. In this context; It is of great importance that local companies register with NETBİS and update their information when necessary.
