Based on the letter sent to our Association from the Ministry of Trade, the first paragraph of Article 8 of Law No. 5957 on the Regulation of Trade in Fruits and Vegetables and Other Goods with Sufficient Depth of Supply and Demand states that a market duty of one percent will be collected on goods sold in wholesale markets and two percent on goods sold outside the wholesale market. However, unless otherwise decided by the President, market duty will not be collected on certified products, whether raw, semi-finished, or finished, produced in accordance with the principles of organic farming activities under Organic Agriculture Law No. 5262, or on products certified under good agricultural practices. In this context; To avoid paying market duty, to prevent products not produced using organic farming or good farming methods from being reported to the Market Registration System as organic or good farming products, and to prevent purchase notifications made from producers using organic farming or good farming methods without their knowledge, the first notifications regarding organic/good farming products will be made by the producers of these products, starting from August 1, 2025. Subsequent notifications will be made by the purchasers of the goods.
