The 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 12th Professional Group committee members of the Iskenderun Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ITSO), with the participation of ITSO President Levent Hakkı Yılmaz, held a consultative meeting to discuss the relocation of the Iskenderun Small Industrial Site.

At the meeting, the ongoing efforts over the years to allocate a new location for the Iskenderun Small Industrial Site, due to the damage caused by the earthquake, its inadequacy for the businesses operating there, and its cramped location in the city center, were evaluated. The aim is to organize the area in a more modern and fitting manner for Iskenderun.

ITSO President Levent Hakkı Yılmaz stated that many initiatives have been taken regarding this issue with both former and current local administrators, members of parliament, and public institutions, adding that the post-earthquake period has gained even more importance and the issue has been brought up more frequently. However, he emphasized that due to the geographical conditions of Iskenderun, both physical and bureaucratic obstacles were encountered in determining a suitable and sufficient area and in the stages of allocating the said area as an industrial zone by the relevant authorities. Committee members who spoke at the meeting also provided information about the initiatives they had individually undertaken with municipalities and relevant institutions, and exchanged views on the roadmap to be followed in the coming period. Within the scope of the consultation meeting, it was decided to establish a commission consisting of committee members to conduct more effective work on the issue, and this commission will hold meetings with institutions and organizations regarding land allocation and carry out project studies. Following these studies, it was decided to plan a new meeting with the participation of the heads of the chambers of commerce to bring the issue to higher authorities. In his evaluation at the end of the meeting, İTSO President Levent Hakkı Yılmaz emphasized that the most important step to be taken in this process is to act together.
