The Iskenderun Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ITSO) April Assembly Meeting was held under the chairmanship of Assembly President Zeki Altun.
During the meeting, agenda items were discussed and decided upon, while professional committees also presented information to the assembly members about their ongoing work.
ITSO Board of Directors President Levent Hakkı Yılmaz, in his speech at the meeting, mentioned the visit they made to Hatay Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mehmet Öntürk together with the City Council, stating, “In our meeting, we made comprehensive evaluations on the New Industrial Site project, which will contribute to the economy of our region. The relocation of the Small Industrial Site was also on our agenda. In this context, it is planned to establish a new Small Industrial Site on an area of ​​approximately 350 acres.”
Sedat Uzungenç, a member of the ITSO 4th Group Professional Committee, who also spoke at the meeting, provided information about the committee"s work. In his speech, Uzungenç said; Uzungenç stated that the insufficient supervision of businesses operating informally leads to unfair competition, and that they have taken the necessary steps to resolve this issue. He also mentioned that they have raised the issue of tax amnesty requests, and drew attention to the difficulties businesses face in accessing credit and financing after the February 6th earthquakes, emphasizing that high interest rates are putting pressure on the business world. Uzungenç stated that they are closely following the process regarding the Small Industrial Site, and that the zoning project for the planned new industrial site needs to be re-evaluated. He also touched upon the city"s infrastructure problems, highlighting the importance of resolving uncertainties in this area. During the meeting, Cemil Güler, a member of the Accounts Review Commission, also provided information to the council members regarding the balance sheet. The April council meeting concluded with the discussion and acceptance of the agenda items by a majority vote.
